The project ‘Disabled Refugees Welcome \u2013 The Right to Work’ (RTA), funded by the Swedish Inheritance Fund and run by the Independent Living Institute (ILI), focuses on improving labour market integration for migrants with disabilities. RTA builds on ILI’s previous project DRW (2017-2020) and runs from 2022 to 31 March 2025. Immediately after the project ends, ILI will launch the ‘Support Centre for Migrants with Disabilities’ on 1 April 2025.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

An important concept in the project is intersectionality – the discrimination faced due to both being a migrant and having a disability. The experience from DRW says that in networks with a focus on disability law issues there is a lack of knowledge about being a migrant and vice versa, in networks with a focus on migration there is a lack of knowledge about having a disability. One of the project’s most important goals is therefore to raise awareness in these networks.<\/p>\n
